What Are Mandirs Used For?

Mandir’s play a significant role within the Hindu Culture. They not only hold immense religious and cultural significance but they are sacred spaces where people within the community are able to come and develop a deep connection with the Divine. Centuries after the creation of the Mandir they haven’t failed to provide people with a spirititual gateway.

1. Worship and Devotion

Primarily Mandir’s are used as a avenue for worship. Allowing Hindus to practise their religion through prayers known in hindu as “Puja“. Within these rituals Hindus incoporate different forms of chants, lights and offerings to please the gods. Visiting specific temples often are called Pilgrimage. This is because the temples are often in scared towns or near rivers, mountains or other natural landmarks. Pilgrimages attract millions of pilgrims each year some examples are the Vaishno Devi and Tirupati temple these are popular pilgrimage sites. The journey to these temples are often regarded as spiritual undertaking and it allows individuals to clear their mind aswell as their bodies.
